Cisco Sewing Supplies & Notions was established in 2010 by Barb Pattison. A former school teacher and a sewist since childhood, Barb was diagnosed in 2000 with Multiple Sclerosis and unable to continue teaching so decided to sell sewing supplies online. Doctors predicted she would be confined to a wheelchair within 5 years but now, after 18 years, she is still able to walk and manages quite well.

Cisco Sewing Supplies & Notions memorializes a very special Paint horse named Cisco Sunfire that Barb and her husband owned for over 17 years. Cisco was named after the horse ridden by Kevin Costner in the movie Dances with Wolves. He was born on their farm and was their very first stallion. If you know anything about horses, you know that owning a stallion can be rather challenging, especially a 1200 pound one! Stallions tend to behave based on their hormones and can be rude, unruly and even dangerous.

Cisco was a well-mannered stallion right from the start. He was affectionate, protective, beautiful, and a wonderful daddy. Mares (female horses) often leave their older babies with other mares they trust to "babysit" but rarely with a male horse and almost never with a stallion. All the mares must have trusted Cisco because he was often seen “babysitting" his own off-spring as well as foals that weren't his. He was a wonderful horse and he is greatly missed. Sadly, Cisco died from the injuries sustained during an animal attack. The suspected attacker was probably a bear and Cisco was protecting the young horses. To commemorate him, Barb decided to name this sewing supplies, notions, and tools store after him.

Our Store
Cisco Sewing Supplies & Notions is a Canadian independent online sewing supplies store. Since Barb was always passionate about both teaching and sewing, it seemed a natural fit to create a shopping outlet which other sewing enthusiasts (regardless of mobility) could easily access from their computer, tablet, mobile phone, etc. Along with the online store, Barb could now use her teaching skills to make sewing videos and tutorials to help and inspire fellow sewing enthusiasts. Barb’s primary sewing interest is Haute Couture sewing for Plus Sized women to make beautiful, well-fitting, comfortable and flattering clothing that will last a very long time. Eliminating the demand for “Fast Fashion” has always been a passion for Barb and she is thrilled that the idea is catching on. After 45+ years of sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, cross stitching, tatting, and almost any other needle craft you can imagine, Barb is knowledgeable about a wide variety of needle crafts. As a former teacher of art, computers, math, and English, she is able to give thoughtful, clear responses to customer’s inquiries and understands their needs. Barb has always loved being able to help people and providing exemplary customer service has always been our first priority at Cisco Sewing Supplies & Notions.
